What I learned in English 10

What I learned in English ten second quarter was the different types of themes, irony, and what is the characters and readers points of view. Prietser had showed me allot about how I can join in on an online conversation and how I can create a poll. I had also learned that I can join in on a contest that can benefit the school or any school in the state. She showed us this cool website that can help us create an online persuasive project. It was simple and easy, you can try if you want to. I have learned new vocabulary almost every day and have learned to explain ambiguity in text. n blogger I can post comments and create a project that celebrates a holiday online. Also on blogger I can write about anything even my days on the campus I live on. On Google docs I was able to learn about creating my own graphic organizer and publishing it on the web. Another thing on blogger you can create new pages and embed new projects that are shown around the world. It is safe and harmless if you learn to use it correctly. I also can crate a poll that I can have others rate my writing. I also learned how to make a quiz for friends and family. Those quizzes are actually fun and can be for any subject. I also have a delicious account and can make new bookmarks about any vocabulary or events that are happening.

“The Lady or the Tiger?”

I would rather be tried under the court system because doing time in jail is way better then getting mauled by a hungry tiger, well at least I think so don’t you? One reason I would want to be tried under the court system is because there are some crimes that you can do and get a small consequence and then again there are some crimes that have major consequences. One reason I wouldn’t want to be tried under the kings system is because a guilty person can make a lucky guess and chose the door with the lady behind it and vice versa if a innocent person is tried and took a bad guess and ended up getting ripped to shreds by a angry tiger then the guilty person lived and a innocent person died for no reason. So that is why I would want to be tried under the court system because I would rather spend three years in jail for stealing a brand new car from my neighbor. The United States Justice System is way better then the kings system because if you go by the kings system you would have to worry about what door a hungry tiger is standing waiting for you to open it then your dead but if you go by the court system you don’t have to worry all that all you have to worry about is what your going to jail for and how long you are going to be in jail. If you’re in jail for a very long time then that sucks for you doesn’t it.

“The Gift of the Magi” - Surprise Ending.

When I finished reading the story I felt the same way when I first started reading the story. The reason I felt the same way is because although the couple sacrificed things that were important to them so they can buy each other a Christmas present they could of  put their money together and bought each other presents instead of sacrificing  important things that they both had. Another reason is because if they really loved each other one of them would buy the other a present and say that it is okay if you didn’t get me a present because all I want is to make you happy on a warm Christmas day.    

“The Gift of the Magi” - The Item I’d Save.

If a dangerous earthquake happened and I could save one item I would save some of my old pictures of me when I was little  because  every day I see homeless people who are living on one pair of clothes, but I bet they don’t have one picture of them when they were little or a picture of their family. The reason I would save my baby pictures is because there is a saying “ a picture is worth a thousand words” and if I have one picture I could remember what I was doing and I can also look back at that time and see what it looked like back then when I was  a little kid. Another reason I would save my baby pictures is because when I’m grown up and I want to look back and see what I looked like, or if I’m having a bad day and I happen to look at one of my baby pictures I could start to feel happy because I looked back at my childhood and look at how much fun I had.

“First Persuasive Paragraph.”

 Students should be given money to buy Christmas gifts for their friends because if their best friend buys a gift and wants one to make it fair then student has to tell his friend that he didnt get him a gift because he didnt get any money for gift so now he gets a gift but his friend is also mad at him. If kids didnt get money to buy gifts for his friends it is basically taking all the students friends away because if their friend gets them a gift and wants one because it is christmas and the student get any money the friends are going to get mad because they spent money on their friend and their friend didnt get them one small present. That is why I think students should get money to buy gifts for their friends.

"The Sniper" and "Cranes" Theme Comparison Essay.

  Both stories are alike because the two characters are at war. The stories "Cranes" and "The Sniper" both are similar to each other. Then the main characters changed there ways by not killing people. They are both alike by having to kill people that are precious to them. In both story’s they find out war is very tragic because you can kill people that are close without knowing.

  Normally, soldiers fight against strangers. But in both story’s the main character fought against one of their family members or one of their friends.  "Cranes" and "The Sniper" are alike because in both interactions the main characters are forced to fight or kill there family members and also friends. The stories are also alike because in each story the government is after one of the characters. Tokchae in the story "Cranes," he killed people. Then in the story "The Sniper" the narrator killed many people including his own blood brother.

 The main characters in the story Sniper are the narrator and his brother, the spy, and the men driving the armored car. The conflict in the story was the narrator getting shot at. Then the conflict was resolved by the narrator finding a way how to kill his enemy. The narrator changed as soon as he seen the face of his beloved brother dead. The theme of the story is when people are in war, they are taught to kill each other without hesitation.

  The main characters in the Crane are Songsam and also Tokchae, which used to be his child hood playmate. The conflict in the story was when Songsam was forced to shoot his friend. The conflict was resolved when Songsam let Tokchae go like when they both let a crane go, when they were younger. Songsam changed when he let Tokchae go so he can change his loyalty. Theme is that people's  friendship can overcome war.

  The topic of both story’s are about war. In the story The Sniper the narrator is forced to kill his own brother without knowing. In the story the Crane the main character Songsam was forced to kill his old child hood friend, but looked back to the times that they had and let his friend go instead of killing him. The main idea of the Sniper is that the narrator chaged his ways after looking into the face of his dead brother, and the main idead of the Crane songsam let his friend Tockha go so he can change his ways, and his loyalty. One final idea of both story’s is that in the end of both story’s both characters changed their ways.

"The Sniper” Before or After Narrative.

After droping to the ground to find out that he just killed his own brother he got a terrible feeling kreeping up from his stomach and a second later he ended up vomiting on his brother.After telling his dead brother sorry for vomiting on him, the soldier decided to get up and make a run for a shed that was only twenty yards away where he had stashed a bunch of bullets and guns befor he went on gaurd. So after the soldier took about ten steps he heard the sounds of the machine gun bullets hitting the ground, when he heard that he decided to run faster and after he took five more steps he felt a sharp pain in his left ankle and fell to the ground. When he hit the ground he grabed his ankle and started swearing as loud as he could because of the pain he was in. While the soldier was laying on the ground grabing his ankel he heard the sounds of a car engine, as he looked over his left shoulder he heard the sounds of a mans voice saying” I think I hit him lets see”. As the armored car rolled up to where the soldier was laying two men hoped out of the car and started to laugh and said “ look at this worthless peace of time god used he could of used the time for something else then making this”. So after listening to the two guys talk trash about him he started to swear at them and swear to them about their families, when the soldier was done talking the two enemys took out a gun and shot the soldier in his head.

The Cask of Amontillado Revenge

When people seek revenge they usually try to get someone back because that person did something that hurt their feelings or they did something that the other person didn’t like. Revenge causes people to commit murders, some people that commit murders do it because people that they use to know made fun of them because they did something that they didn’t like or they did something that made them think different about them. Another reason people commit murders are because they were growing up in a bad neighborhood where all people did was join gangs and kill other people, so when they get a little bit older they get introduced into gangs and sooner or later they start murdering innocent people. One last example about who people that tries to seek revenge usually commits murder is that when that person tries to pull a prank or a joke on one of their friend but they don’t know that they can actually kill or seriously hurt their friend so when the prank or joke happens usually someone gets hurt, or dies people don’t know that the person died by an accident. So next time when peopl want to pull a prank, or a joke on their best friend just remember that they need to be careful.

The Interlopers’ Family Feud

The word fued means to fight or argue with one another or fighting with a diffrent group or family. Family Feud is a TV game show which was created by Mark Goodson, and Bill Todman. The Two families were competing against each other in a contest to name the most popular responses to a type question posed to 100 people. The original show was on a local chanel called ABC and the show was hosted by a man named Richard Dawson. The word FUED is in the title because when you put family and feud together you will find out that it means family argument. I think the title of the show is called family feud because basicaly the show is two families that are arguing on a game show so their whole family can win a prize.  So when you are about to get in an argument with someone about something little you dont have to because it’s not like you are going to win a prize.

Chilean Miners Rescue

The thirty-three miners that were trapped in a Chilean mine were rescued after having to stay under ground for two months. It was not till the night of October 13, 2010 when the last of the thirty-three miners was rescued and sent to the hospital the next day. If I hade one word to describe this situation I would chose the word devastating. One thing that happened in the mine was that they were able to use a small device to communicate with people above the ground, including their religious leaders. I think that it was good that they got to communicate with the people above ground because they were able to tell their family that they were okay, and not to worry because they will get out safely. Another thing that happed was when they were rescued they were forced to wear sunglasses because they were in the dark for so long that their eyes got use to it. If I were them I would feel bad because have to wear these sun glasses for a long time because of my eyes got adjusted to the darkness in the mine.  If I were one of the miners I would be so glade and thankful because I get to go back to my family and not have to worry if people are going to rescue us or not.

Autobiographical Narrative Reflection

When it comes to writing narritives I can be very good at it but at some points I can have a little trouble. Three things Ican do better on the next paper we write is when writing paragrphs I have to make sure that I dont put a lot of details because it will make the paragraph sound confusing. The second thing I can work on to improve is giving specific details on the characters and settings so other people that are reading the story can imagine what the person looks like or have a good imagination on what the setting looks like. The third and final thing i can work on or try to improve is when trying to write a narritive I have to make sure that I go back and double check my spelling because I went back to see my narritive and noticed that a lot of people told me that I hade made a lot of spelling errors so that I think will make my narritive better.

The Most Shocking Time

Boom! Boom! Boom! The sounds of three gun shots came roaring into my cousin’s house interrupting the movie, my cousin’s friends and I were watching. I was at my cousin’s house because she wanted me to come over and watch a movie with her friends. At first we thought that the sounds came from kids playing around with fire works, or popping brown paper bags. We were in the house watching a movie when we hear arguing, we ran towards the door to see what was happening when my cousin yelled GET IN THE HOUSE! We did as told, but instead of watching the guys argue from the doorway we went inside so we can watch them argue while sitting on our brown couch that was right by the window. While my cousin’s friend and I were watching the two guys argue I started to think what will happen next, is someone going to get hurt, or is someone going to try and break up the argument before something bad happens. Till this day I still remember what everybody was wearing. On that day I was wearing a white shirt, black shorts, whit socks, and black and white Nike shoes. One of the guys that were arguing was wearing a brown shirt, jean shorts, and white shoes. The other guy that was arguing was wearing a blue shirt, black pants and white shoes. While watching the two guys argument I asked my cousins friends if they know who those people are they told me that the two guys are from rival gangs and one of them are in the wrong neighborhood. After they said that they were in rival gangs I knew that someone is going to get hurt. After about five minutes of watching the two guys argue I thought that since nothing is happening that it is okay to turn around and finish watching our movie. After I turned around, and got up to push play on the DVD player I heard three loud gun shots and I quickly through myself to the ground as fast as I could because I didn’t know if they were shooting at our house or if some out side got shot. After about two seconds everybody in the house got up off the ground and darted towards the door, as soon as we reached the door the sounds of screeching tires followed by the screaming voices of bystanders.

While watching the shooter get in his gray Nissan I noticed that there were people running away, some people were just standing there in shock and didn’t know what to do, and a lot of people were circled around the guy that got shot. When I saw that people were forming a circle around the shot guy on the ground I ran over to where the guy was laying to see if he was dead of if he was bleeding really bad. As soon as I reached where everybody was I looked at the guy and I noticed that there was a big puddle of blood that was coming from two holes, and one hole in his arm. After looking at the blood I realized that he was dying because when I looked at his eyes they were rolling back so you could only see the whites of his eyes, he was also coughing up blood while he was trying to ask people to help him and he was also crying because of the pain.

While people were watching the guy the guy die someone in the crowd yelled out “SOME ONE GO CALL THE COPS INSTEADE OF JUST STANDING HERE”! When I heard that I ran inside the house so I could call 911, when I called the police I told them that someone got shot and is dying they told me to give them my address and to keep pressure on the wounds. It took ten minutes for the police to get to my house. When the police got to my house people were telling them the description of the shooter, and the car that he was driving. After they got the description they called the paramedics so they can pick up the guy that was shot. When they asked who called the police I told them that I called them and they said that they are glade that I called as soon as possible because now that they got a description on the shooter, and the license plat number of the car that he has now they can go and try and find him so nobody else that argues with him gets hurt. So ten minutes later all the cops were gone, and the streets of long beach California were quiet and dead again I said to myself whenever I argue with someone be careful who you argue with because you never know what will happen and since that very day I watch out for the people who I argue with.

One Flashback

One flashback that I had was when I was on summer vacation and was visiting my cousin who lives in Long Beach. when I was ten years old me and my cousin were riding our bikes around our neighborhood when we both got tired we stopped at a park called Silverado park. We were walking around the park to see if we knew anybody that we know after ten minutes of walking around we stopped at a nearby picnic table so we can rest. When we were resting I remembered a time when I was eight years old and my cousin was seven and we were both riding around the neighborhood like he was my best friend. after the memory was done I said “hey do you remember two years ago when we were riding our bike around this same neighborhood like we were best friends” and he said “ oh yeah I remember that time we did everything together”. After we were done resting we both got on our bikes and rode back to his house. That was one flashback that happened to me.

1. When I was four my dad took me and my brother to Disney land for the whole day.
2. When I was five I learned how to roller blade while living in Long Beach.
3. I was seven when I learned how to play basketball with my brother at Silverado Park.
4. When I was eight my cousin pushed me down a hill with roller blades on and I face planted.
5. When I was nine my dad won the jackpot at a casino in Long Beach.
6. When I was in the fifth grade I got in trouble for putting a frog in another student’s desk.
7. The first time I saw someone get shot was when I was ten.
8. I started playing football at the age of eight at my elementary school.
9. I bought my first phone when I was sixth grade.
10. I was thirteen when i graduated from middle school.

My Random Qiz

In Ms.Priester’s class I have an F and I feel that I should have a D in her class because I did a lot of makeup work which should have brought the F up to a D. I have an F in this class because I had a lot of assignments that I did not do them or I forgot to do them. I have a lot of strengths In this class like Oral work, speaking, reading, and working on computers. The stuff I need to do in order to maintain a good grade in this class is turning in my work, doing make up work, stay on task, and most important is to listen and follow the teacher’s directions. Some campus adults can help me by asking me if I need help, or if they see me frustrated come and ask if they can help and if I really need help I will tell them that I am having trouble with my homework. Ms.Priester can also help me raise my grade when I need help I will usually ask her for help and she would come over and try and tell me how to fix the problem. By the end of this quarter I hope to have at least a D or C because I am trying my best to get of two hour and stay off because I want to have good grade so in the future I can go to a good college and I can only do that if I have good grade throughout highschool.

Dear Ms Luella Bates Washington Jones,

I am writing to because I just want to tell you how my life has changed since the moment I tried to snatch your purse so I can buy me some blue suede shoes when I was fourteen. Since that moment my whole life changed because that very moment it felt that I had a mom that actually spends time with her child and tells him right from wrong. Ever since you let me go that night I would think before I did something bad “What would Ms.Luella Bates Washington Jones do if she caught you doing that”? Ever since that day I started doing the right thing where ever I went and now I am running a big business that makes shoes tie themselves. I just want to tell you thanks for telling me what’s wrong and what’s right and if I didn’t run in to you I wouldn’t be running my own business. So thank you very much.

“Thank You, M'am" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph"

Rodger and my brother have some stuff in common,one thing they have in common is even if they both do something bad they are always respectful to the people that tell them they shouldn't do it again because what they did was wrong. Another thing they have in common is if they have a decision to run or do the right thing. They both will do the right thing because even though they have the choice to run or stay they don't want to run because they want to show the other person that they have respect and they both have a sense of manner. Somethings that are different between my brother and Rodger is when my brother gets really mad he will start to yell at anybody that tire to calm him down,and I don't know how Rodger acts when he gets mad so therefor that makes them diffident. The best character trait they have is that they are respectful to grown ups even if they tell them wrong from right.

"Thank you m'am from Rogers point of view"

One day when I was walking down the street thinking about these blue suede shoes I saw at this store and I really wanted them, after I turned the corner I saw an old women walking and I thought If I can take her pocket bag I would have enough money to buy the blue suede shoes I was thinking about. So after two seconds of thinking I decided to try and snatch her pocket bag but as soon as I snatched her bag I lost my balance at fell to the ground. When the old lady saw that I fell after trying to take her bag she kicked me in my butt and told me to give her pocket bag back when I didn’t reply back she snatched me by my shirt and lifted me on to my feet. After she got me to my feet she noticed that my face was dirty and asked why I didn’t go home and wash my face, and I told her because my parents were not home right now. So after having a talk she told me that she was going to take me to her house so she can wash my face and so she can teach me a lesson. So when new got to her house she told me to wash my face at the sink so that is what I did, when I was done I sat at the far end of the room so the lady can see what I was doing after a few minutes the lady gave me ten dollars and told me that she gave me it because I was so respectful and now I can buy the shoes I want.

"Going gets tough the tough get going"

There is some truth to the saying “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” Some of the things I think are true about the saying include: when some people are doing something difficult and can’t get it right after a while they get that feeling that they just want to give up. Another true thing about the saying is when football players are playing a team that is bigger and better then they are that is when they have to think when the going gets tough the tough gets going and they have to say to themselves that they will win some and they will lose some. So when people say there is nothing true about that statement just remember there is.

9/11 Paragraph

On September 11th 2001 I was six years old.I was in my second grade class when the priciple of my school made an announcement over the intercom saying,"Everyone must watch a tragic event that is taking place this very moment". When I heard that I hade a blank look on my face just like everyone else because we didnt know what was going on at the time. When they brought a TV in our classroom, we all sat down so we can see what was going on. When the TV was turned on, we all saw one of the towers caught on fire with the back of a plane sticking out. A second later, the TV showed a second plane hit the second tower. After that day, it seemed that everyone in the world just lost something that was vey valuable to them, and it was very sad for the people that had a family member that died in that tragic moment.

One FlashBack

Special Animal

I think an animal can be a humans best friend because everywhere I go there are people with dogs and other kinds of pets. Some pets that can be a best friend to a human is dogs, some dog can be a humans best friend and some can be a humans worst nightmare. Some people like to have poodles,and some people like to have golden retreiver

My Villian V.S. General Zaroff

My villian which is the Green Goblin and the evil General Zaroff from the story "The Most Dangerous Game" have some similar things in common. One thing they have in common is that they both try and kill innocent people for their entertainment General Zaroff has a evil personality, at first he might seem nice but when you finally get to know him and what he does for intertainment he might not seem nice at all. An example of his evilness is when he showed Rainsford how he stocks the island.My villian The Green Goblin has an evil personality to, he also has an evil trait An example of his evil trait is when he tries to kill spiderman with his goblin glider in spider man two

When I realized that I just killed general zaroff, and I won the hunt I went to look for the key that leads to the basement which is holding a lot of hostages. After five minutes of searching I got tired of looking. I went into the living where general zaroff keep all his animal heads so I can get something to drink. suddenly I remembered the time me and general zaroff were talking about how he hunted the Cape buffalo I went to check behind all the heads just to make sure that he didn’t hide it behind them. Surely after looking behind the big buffalos head there was a key but next to it there was another key that looks exactly the same. So after thinking about what I should do I took both of the keys just in case one of the keys doesn’t work. Two minutes later I reached the basement which fells like its two hundred feet below the ground; on the other side of a big metal door with a face of a lion on it, was a ton of people with voices with fear in their voices. I asked if everyone was okay or if anyone was hurt, one second later a voice of a young child said that everyone was okay but the room was very crowded, I told the kid not to worry because I am going to get you out. After trying one key which didn’t work I tried the second key which did work I told everyone to go to the front of the house and wait till everyone is out of the home. When I got to the front door I asked if anyone was missing. After everyone was out of the house we all got on a nearby boat and all went home safely.

Would I Ever Go Hunting

My opinion on hunting is that it is goo and bad, I think hunting is good because every day some one kills an animal but at the same time all kinds of animal are giving birth. So when we kill one animal somewhere around the world there is five animals being born.On the other hand hunting can be bad also. Hunting can be bad in all sorts of ways like polar bears, people don't realise that when they kill polar Bears they lessen the bears population. we lessen the bears population because some bears are losing there home and land because of global warming and because of that their population keeps dropping.So when we go hunting for polar bear just so we can have fur boots,or fur coats people have to realise that if this keeps going on that sooner or later the entire polar bear population would go extinct. So that is why I think hunting is good,and bad.

My Best Birthday I’ve gone to


I think the best birthday was when I was eight years old and I was living in Los Angeles. It was the month of August and it was on the 31st, which is my brother’s birthday .Me and my friends and family were planning a surprise birthday party for him while he was at school. So while we were getting ready for his party he came home. So when he came in the door we were all confused and wondering why he came home early and not when he was suppose to come home. So when we asked him why he came home early he said because the teachers had an important meeting that they had to go to and couldn’t be late so the whole school got out early. So when he ask what were we doing we told him that we were planning a birthday party for him be it was suppose to be a surprise but he came back early. After we told him he said that it’s not his birthday and that his birthday is not till next month. So when we heard him say that we all started laughing and told him that no his birthday was today because it’s the 31st of august the day that he turns nine. He said that he forgot that today was his birthday so that is why it was the best birthday I’ve been to because I never been to a birthday where the person forgot it was there birthday.
